3. New York Knicks
The New York Knicks were in the mix for Andre Drummond when he was bought out by the Cleveland Cavaliers during the season before Drummond signed with the Lakers instead. Now that he is a free agent, the Knicks could very well still be in the market for the big man.
The Knicks actually have a really talented young center in Mitchell Robinson, who is one of the most underrated young big men in the league. Robinson broke his foot during the season, though, and the team is still going to need depth around him.
Nerlens Noel and Taj Gibson are not the answer and with a boatload of cap space, Drummond could make sense for the Knicks. This is the perfect marriage for Drummond. He would play in a massive market where there would be more eyes on him and would probably get overpaid by a Knicks team that has money to spend.
The Knicks are probably going to fall into the same trap that every new playoff team falls into. The Knicks made the playoffs for the first time in eight years, have a ton of money to spend and will bring in several new role players to supplement Julius Randle, thinking it will lead to a deeper run.
There aren’t really any superstars for the Knicks to go after unless they want Kyle Lowry or hope that Chris Paul opts out and it is totally a Knicks thing to do to spend $40 million on three mediocre role players, such as Drummond.
If there is any team that I would watch out for when it comes to the Andre Drummond market, it is the New York Knicks.
