1. Ayo Dosunmu

Ayo Dosunmu is a junior guard coming out of Illinois. Dosunmu’s age is a benefit for the Los Angeles Lakers, as the older the player coming out of college the closer they are to their ceiling. That often means a lower ceiling for the player, but the quicker they can play in the rotation and be a legitimate difference-maker.

Dosunmu would help add depth to the backcourt, which is completely up in the air this offseason. Dennis Schroder, Alex Caruso and Talen Horton-Tucker are all free agents. And while it seems likely that Caruso and THT will return, the Lakers could still use a fourth guard to also play alongside Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

Dosunmu is a combo-guard who can play either position and fits nicely on this Lakers team as he is not someone who demands the basketball. The Lakers still need that secondary playmaker to help LeBron James but it is nice to get assets that can be off-ball threats.

Dosunmu fits the identity of this team to a tee. He is a big combo guard at six-five and is long, similar to THT. He is a defensive-minded guard who can also shoot the three-ball fairly well. He shot 39% from beyond the arc last season.

He is someone who can get to the cup and he is a fantastic rebounder for a guard. If the Lakers want to lean into their size and add a solid shooter, Dosunmu is a good candidate.
