Los Angeles Lakers greatest scorers: 11. James Worthy

James Worthy is deservedly a Lakers legend in the history of the franchise for his playoff heroics and many other reasons. One of those reasons just happens to be that he was one of the primary offensive forces in Los Angeles during the Showtime era, simply another lethal weapon on that loaded roster. His ability as a scorer was and is undeniable in terms of it’s greatness in Lakers history.

Big Game James played for 12 seasons with the Lakers and appeared in a whopping 926 games. Over that time in Los Angeles, he accrued 16,320 points for his career. That’s good for a career average of 17.6 points per game. However, that doesn’t take into account his prime where he averaged 19.9 points per game over the course of eight seasons while also shooting 53.2 percent from the floor. The big forward was just dominant as a scorer and consistent in playing that role for almost his entire career.

While his numbers may not be as gaudy as some other Lakers players, Worthy was still incredible as a scorer while spending his entire career with the organization. He deservedly earns a spot in the top 10 rankings of the greatest scorers in the franchise’s history.
