The veteran minimum contracts the Los Angeles Lakers should sign:

Again, as previously noted, the minimum contracts count for just over $1.6 million on the cap. The actual amount of money that a player gets paid is based on how many years he has played in the league but that does not matter here.

There are three players that the Los Angeles Lakers should sign on a veteran minimum deal.

1. Hassan Whiteside

The Los Angeles Lakers need a big-bodied rim protector and rebounder this offseason. The center position did not go as planned this offseason and while Marc Gasol should stick around for depth, the team should look to bring in an Andre Drummond replacement.

You could make the case for a reunion with either JaVale McGee or Dwight Howard or even signing someone such as Robin Lopez. Whiteside is my personal choice out of all the veteran center options.

2. Paul Millsap

The Los Angeles Lakers would need someone to replace Kyle Kuzma and give the team minutes at the power forward position off the bench. Millsap is more than capable of doing so and can provide similar offensive output as Kuzma with veteran experience and better defense.

Kuzma is more explosive and is better in transition but that is all the team would really be losing in going from Kuzma to Millsap.

3. JJ Redick

JJ Redick is entering the latter stages of his career and is worth a minimum contract with his current value. He is a veteran guard who can not only teach the young guards in LA but also provide the team shooting depth as well.
