SG: Evan Fournier
Evan Fournier is another player that the Los Angeles Lakers would have to sign with a mid-level exception as the team is not going to be able to bring him in for any less than that and any more than that would be too rich for the Lakers.
Fournier was traded to the Boston Celtics last season and he is exactly the kind of player that the Lakers need to be looking to add around LeBron James. The Lakers did not have a single shooter to be confident in during the playoffs and that is part of the reason why it was not even competitive without Anthony Davis.
Fournier is someone who the team could be confident in. He is a knockdown three-point shooter, shooting 41.3% last season and 37.9% over his career. Most of that is as an off-ball catch-and-shoot threat, which is what his role would be with the Lakers.
Fournier is also a pretty decent defensive player as well. He would fit nicely on this Lakers team in Frank Vogel’s defensive schemes and would provide the Lakers a true three and D presence. Fournier would be yet another positive contributing piece to a solid team defense.
Fournier checks all of the boxes that the Lakers should be looking for out of a two-guard, likely to bring off the bench. He could be priced higher than the MLE, but if not, he would not be a bad signing at all.
