Breaking down using Kobe Bryant as an argument by Scottie Pippen

Pippen’s discussion about Kevin Durant is one thing, using Kobe Bryant for justifying his argument of calling Phil Jackson a racist opened a lot of eyes.

"“Do you remember Phil Jackson left the Lakers and then wrote a book on Kobe Bryant and then came back and coached him? I mean, who would do that? You name someone in professional sports that would do that. I think he tried to expose Kobe in a way that he shouldn’t have. You’re the head coach. You’re the guy who sits in the locker room and tells the players ‘this is a circle, and everything stays within the circle, and that’s what team is about.’ But you as the head coach, opening up, and now you go out and try to belittle at that time one of the greatest players in the game?”"

It is a well-known fact that there was tension between Kobe and Shaquille O’Neal over who’s team it is. It’s also known that Phil Jackson used that tension as a part of the ‘Zen’ he used through three “Three-Peat” championship runs.

The two just didn’t get along at times in their first championship run at times. That’s it. They both grew as men and respected each other more when he came back. Plus the big point here is…

It is assumed the Buss family would have asked Kobe Bryant if he wanted Phil Jackson back. If he was a racist, Kobe probably would have said no.

What’s the motivation of all of this…?

Simple… Scottie Pippen is trying to sell a new liquor line and a book!

In the end, Scottie Pippen was hurt by the documentary. Not a lot of people was happy in the way they were portrayed outside of Steve Kerr and maybe a couple of others. Even Skip Bayless was complaining that he didn’t contribute to the documentary.

This is all about revenge and get back from what Jordan said about him being selfish. His quotes have petty written all over it calling Michael Jordan selfish for leaving to play baseball.

"“Yeah It was a big decision, but It was a selfish decision, but it was kind of who Michael Jordan was. That was a guy who believed he can do anything on his own”"

Scottie Pippen has his reasons for his feelings about Phil Jackson. However, history shows that the relationship is confusing based on the comments. Such as…

  • Scottie wouldn’t have stayed in Chicago. For what? The rest of the Bulls dynasty? That’s a long time to hold a grudge.
  • When Pippen wanted a trade out of Houston in 1999, it was reported that his first choice was to reunite with Jackson on the Los Angeles Lakers. When the deal didn’t happen, Pippen was dealt to the Portland Trail Blazers.

What is Scottie Pippen’s motivation…to sell a book and have you buy his alcohol to enjoy while reading it.

Enjoy if you will.
