Los Angeles Lakers: 30 greatest individual performances in team history: 21. Anthony Davis wastes no time

The Los Angeles Laker tenure for Anthony Davis is still in its infancy stages but he already deserves a spot on this list.

When playing for the Lakers, there’s always pressure but it seemingly goes through the roof when you’re a big man. Davis, though, was able to fit right in. The multiple-time All-Star scorched the Memphis Grizzlies for 40 points and 20 rebounds as the Lakers went on to win by 29 points.

With his performance, Davis joined both rarefied air and created history of his own. Only Wilt Chamberlain, Shaquille O’Neal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, George Mikan, Elgin Baylor and Anthony Davis have ever recorded a 40 point 20 rebounds game. But where Davis separates himself is the time it took him to pull it off. By playing only 31 minutes, Davis played the shortest amount of time to pull off a 40/20 in NBA history.

But wait, there’s more. Davis knocked down 26 free throws as well, the most for a Laker player ever.

It’s going to be difficult for Davis to repeat those numbers but considering how good he is and how many more years he has left at the top of his game, Davis could make several more appearances on this list by the time he pulls the curtain down on his career.
