Los Angeles Lakers: 30 greatest individual performances in team history: 23. LeBron James closes the show
Even with a 3-1 lead in the NBA Western Conference Finals, the Los Angeles Lakers were still on edge. The Denver Nuggets had become known for never quitting and pulling off the unlikeliest of wins.
During the 2019-20 playoffs, the Nuggets were down 3-1 against the Utah Jazz in the opening round but clawed their way out of it to win the next three straight. The LA Clippers, the preseason title favorites, went up 3-1 on the Nuggets in the following round but once again, they managed to pull themselves out of that hole and win three straight. So when the Lakers took their own 3-1 lead, they didn’t loosen up. And LeBron James definitely didn’t take them lightly.
With no fans in the stands to watch him do what he does best thanks to COVID-19, James still went out there and destroyed the Nuggets. Any hope of them pulling off another series comeback was out the question as James dropped 38 points, pulled in 16 rebounds and still managed to dish out 10 assists. Overall, James shot 60% from the field and even his normally spotty free throw shooting was spectacular as he nailed 87.5%. And with that, the comeback kids finally ran out of magic as the Lakers rolled to another title.
