3. Reggie Bullock has improved his defense
The word three and D gets thrown around too often in the NBA media. While there are three and D role players, there is an entire group of role players who get miscast in this role. I’ll be honest, I have definitely done it before as well.
There are two types of miscasts that could happen. First, someone could be labeled as a three and D guy even if they do not play that good of defense. Just having a three-point shot as a wing does not make you a three and D guy. The other miscast is actually a bad thing, as certain players can do more than just shoot threes and defend but still get labeled as three and D players.
If Reggie Bullock can continue his upward trend defensively then he is absolutely a three and D guy. We know he can shoot the three-point shot and he is not someone who is going to add playmaking or anything else to the team.
He can hit threes, and hopefully, can continue to play solid defense.
Bullock saw his defense improve under Tom Thibodeau last season and we can expect him to continue to improve under Frank Vogel. The Lakers are a defensive-minded basketball team and he will be put in the best situations to succeed.
We have seen signs of Bullock’s defense in the past. He showed flashes in Detroit and really has not shown them again until this past season with New York. He is capable of being an above-average defender and I feel good about his chances of doing so in LA.
