What Wayne Ellington brings to the Los Angeles Lakers

Wayne Ellington was the second player to join the Lakers in their first burst of signings.

Ellington primarily brings one thing to the team and that is three-point shooting. He is someone who is not really talked about when bringing up the top shooters in the league, however, there is a case to be made for him.

Last season with the Detroit Pistons, Ellington shot an astronomical 42.2% from three on 6.0 attempts per game. This percentage ranked him at 20th in the league for the 2020-2021 season.

While there is no way that he can replicate a percentage like that this coming season, last season was not a fluke. Although last season was a career peak for Ellington, he has been an elite shooter throughout his career.

He has a career three-point percentage of 38.2%. Ellington is another player that will spend most of his time on offense floating around the three-point line working for an open look.

He struggles as a defender, however, he more than makes up for it on the offensive end. There is no doubt that the other players sharing the court with him will be more than capable of picking up any slack on defense.
