Greatest free agency signings in Los Angeles Lakers history: 8. Brian Shaw

I know what some people are going to say about this choice, but Brian Shaw was a very important part of the Lakers puzzle. He was a well-rounded player that was an extremely cerebral athlete who was more like a coach in his time as a player.

Shaw also knew how to speak to the other players on the roster as he was a well-seasoned veteran when he arrived for the team. Shaw played sixteen seasons in the NBA as he played for the Celtics, Warriors, Magic, Miami, Philadelphia, and Portland.

Brain Shaw came to the Lakers towards the end of his career. He had a wealth of knowledge and experience and was heavily recruited for those reasons as well as his ability and understanding of the flow of the team on and off the court.

Shaw was part of the three-peat team as he served his purpose and then some. He went on to be an assistant coach for the team from 2004-2011 and then again from 2016-2019. One of the most smartest and selfless players the team has ever had.
