2. JJ Redick
If the Los Angeles Lakers do want to go the scoring route with their next signing then the team should absolutely target JJ Redick before Isaiah Thomas. Redick was an iffy minimum target before free agency as there definitely was the potential of a team offering him more than the minimum but at this point, that is probably what his offers are.
Redick is not going to play great defense, just like Thomas, but he provides a much more consistent off-ball scoring presence than Thomas would. In theory, Thomas is a better shot creator but the Lakers do not really need a shot creator out of this roster spot.
Plus, that it is theory. Sure, he looked good when he scored 81 points but he did it against guys who looked like they should be playing at 24-Hour Fitness. Thomas has not been good at all since hurting his hip and while he appears to be healthy now, I would not fully trust it as his size is working against him.
Thomas at his peak was obviously a better and more dynamic scorer than Redick. Neither guy is at their peak anymore and it makes more sense for the Lakers to go with the lockdown shooter that they know can go 2-5 any game if they need him to over the wild-card signing of Thomas.
