1. The Los Angeles Lakers cannot overwork LeBron James in the regular season

The main reason why the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the NBA Playoffs last season was because the team could not stay healthy. Both Anthony Davis and LeBron James got hurt in the regular season.

James played all six playoff games but he was very obviously not 100% as he was settling for far more jumpers than he typically would. Davis got hurt again in Game 4 of the series, flipping the entire series on its head and resulting in a Phoenix win.

While it is important to monitor Anthony Davis it is more important to make sure that the team is not overworking LeBron James. LeBron is going to turn 37 in December and while he has his washed king hashtag, he has nothing to prove in the regular season and just needs to stay healthy.

Quite frankly, I only want to see LeBron James playing 30 minutes per game. He does not need to play 35 minutes per night and in games that are blowouts, he should be resting and letting the depth do their thing.

This is a big reason why Russell Westbrook is in LA. The Lakers must utilize the new depth and additional superstar option they have to keep LeBron fresh.
