The Los Angeles Lakers continued the trend of bringing back former Lakers into the fold by signing recently bought out Rajon Rondo. Rondo was traded from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Memphis Grizzlies, was subsequently bought out and now finds himself on the Lakers.
Rondo has made out quite well over the last 12 months. He played fantastic in the NBA Playoffs, won a championship last October, increased his worth in free agency, signed a two-year, $15 million contract and now finds himself back with the Lakers.
This may not have been Rondo’s plan all along but you cannot help but feel like he finessed the system. Regardless, it is good to have him back.
Two players in particular on the Los Angeles Lakers roster are going to be happy to have him back.
At this point in his career, especially in a smaller role, Rondo is not going to have the same impact that he once did. However, there is still the potential of Playoff Rondo emerging, which is always a fun sight to see.
Even if he does not bring as much value on the box score he does bring value in helping other players already on the Lakers. Even in a smaller role than he had a year ago with the Lakers, Rondo’s impact will be felt on these two players alone.
