2. Power forward

The power forward position is similar to the center position in today’s NBA, so why is it much more likely that the Los Angeles Lakers will sign a power forward over a center? Well, it is simple, the Lakers do not have two power forwards on the roster while they have two and a half centers.

Davis is the only traditional four on the roster. Now, the NBA is more positionless than it has ever been and the team can get away with Carmelo and Ariza playing the four. However, it would also really benefit from bringing in a traditional four that can take some of the stress off of Davis in the regular season.

While Carmelo and Ariza will likely be fine, it would be nice if the Lakers at least gave themselves another option. Right now, if the Lakers want to run a big lineup against a bigger team they are going to have to bite the bullet and play Davis with a traditional big in crunch time.

That might not have been a problem two seasons ago with LeBron essentially operating as the point guard but things are different with Russell Westbrook on the floor.

Signing another four would give the team more options with not only running a bigger lineup off the bench but even playing said four with Anthony Davis at the five without sacrificing size or floor spacing.
