1. Small forward

While on paper power forward might seem to make more sense than small forward, there are simply more options available at the three which makes it a more likely position to be signed for the Lakers. The best option available is James Ennis, who has been tied to the team already.

Ennis is easily the best available move for the Los Angeles Lakers to make. Ennis is not someone who is going to change the trajectory of the franchise but he does give the team another shooting option off the bench that can play serviceable defense.

This is important as the defensive depth of the team is not great. It is no secret that Carmelo Anthony is not a good defender and there is a decent chance that some of the traditional defenders regress defensively.

While the hope is that Frank Vogel can get the most out of everyone defensively, sometimes Father Time simply gets in the way. Do not be totally shocked if Trevor Ariza does not prove to be a good defensive presence anymore or if Kent Bazemore takes a big step back as well.

Having someone like Ennis to at least give the team another option would be helpful in the long run. The hope is that you don’t have to rely on your 14th guy that much but that does not mean that you ignore the best route there.
