Troy Daniels – 41 games in 2019-20

Troy Daniels played half of a regular season with the Los Angeles Lakers during the team’s title-winning season and was not part of the celebrations at the end of the year. Daniels was waived halfway through the season and while he still received a championship ring, he did not get the same experience that J.R. Smith did.

Daniels may have played a good chunk of time with the Lakers but you cannot blame any fans for potentially forgetting about his stint. Not only was it so long ago but Daniels had a very small impact on the team despite there being hype around him.

While nobody expected him to be a huge contributor, there was potential there as a three-point role player. Daniels thrived in the preseason prior to the 2019-20 season and with LeBron loving three-point shooters, Daniels had a chance to play a big role.

He ultimately did not live up to that fan hype, shooting under 36% from beyond the arc and hardly getting any playing time. He averaged just 11.1 minutes and 4.2 points in the 41 games he played with the Lakers.

Prior to the season, LeBron James was telling the media that Troy Daniels’ nickname on the team was “layup” because his three-pointers were as automatic as layups. That obviously was not true as the season played out.
