3. Talen Horton-Tucker vs. Kent Bazemore

Speaking of Kent Bazemore, when the Los Angeles Lakers are at full strength the team is going to have to decide between him and Talen Horton-Tucker not only to potentially start but to play in key moments.

As mentioned, there is a chance that neither THT or Bazemore end up starting and it goes to the veteran in Ellington or potentially the red-hot Monk. There very well could be a starting five of Russell Westbrook, Ellington/Monk, LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Jordan/Howard.

However, one thing we can bet on is that one of THT and Bazemore are going to be in the closing lineup in important moments. That is mostly what this battle is about. The Lakers can’t afford to put more than one defensive nuisance on the court, which opens the door for Ellington or Monk to be replaced by THT or Bazemore.

When the team eventually puts AD at the five it is essentially going to open two roster spots. Maybe then they can justify keeping Ellington on the court or even bring in Carmelo Anthony but one thing is for certain: one of Bazemore and THT will be there.

Bazemore is a better three-point shooter but THT is younger, more athletic and should be the better defender this season. THT can also do more with the basketball, proving to be a solid presence at the rim as well as a decent facilitator, especially as an outlet passer.

Personally, I have my money on THT but I would not be surprised if Bazemore wins the job with great shooting, especially if THT continues to struggle from three.
