3 Los Angeles Lakers who should get fewer minutes in the regular season
By Jason Reed
3. Kent Bazemore
This probably is not going to be a popular opinion with Kent Bazemore playing pretty well in the preseason overall. It has not been perfect but Bazemore has shown why the Lakers signed him to be a three and D role player. He has played solid defense and has had moments as a shooter.
That being said, it is just the preseason and I do not value preseason successes as much as some fans. While Bazemore has looked good in the preseason, he still should not get the kind of playing time that he got in the final preseason game.
Bazemore played 28 minutes, which is simply too much. A big reason why that was the case is because of the injuries at guard that the Lakers were dealing with but even with those injuries, Bazemore should only get around 20 minutes per game.
You could also make the case that Rajon Rondo should make this list as he got 22 minutes in the final preseason game and is not going to get that much in the regular season. However, Rondo did not have a big role in the preseason like Bazemore did and it is quite obvious that his playing time will go down.
Because he is a wing, there definitely is potential for Bazemore to get big minutes on the Los Angeles Lakers. The team might be forced to early on with the injuries that they have to deal with but they will soon realize that Bazemore is better in 20-minute chunks, not playing near-30 minutes.
