The story from the Los Angeles Lakers’ win:
The Los Angeles Lakers used the OKC Thunder debacle as a valuable lesson.
It can get irritating listening to weak excuses about how long the regular season is or mentioning the injuries the Lakers are facing. Fortunately, the team took accountability and showed that this type of situation wouldn’t happen again.
Just read the quotes of Anthony Davis and Frank Vogel…
When Anthony Davis spoke on the reality of the embarrassing loss to OKC.
"“No, this ain’t no adjustment period at all,” the star big man said to reporters after the game. “Not this game. This is just straight up on us. Other games, it’s possible. But this isn’t an adjustment game where I feel like we’re always still learning each other. Not this game.” “This is not just a game, but the next couple of games where we can get a rhythm against teams that are in the bottom half of the league I guess."
Then Frank Vogel co-signed on what the Lakers learned from the loss.
"“Disappointing loss, but a lesson learned,” Vogel said. “NBA season is a long season and a lesson for our group that you can’t ever take your foot off the gas against anyone.”"
They didn’t against the Houston Rockets. They dominated from the tip and were aggressive from start to finish. The biggest adjustment was on defense that allowed the Lakers to get into their fast break which they have been promising basically all season long.
The Los Angeles Lakers had their best defensive performance of the season.
The Lakers kept preaching that they wanted to increase the pace and establish their fast break this season. The only problem is that none of this works without stopping the other team on defense.
This is something the Lakers have not done on a consistent basis until tonight. Outside of a four-minute stretch in the third quarter, Houston was helpless against the defensive schemes of the Lake Show. Their turnovers turned into over 30 points for the Lakers.
