Lakers erase huge deficit but lose to Knicks: The good, bad and story
By Ronald Agers
The story from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:
Russell Westbrook’s third quarter!
To be clear, Russell Westbrook was terrible in the first half. He shot 1-6 and had 5 turnovers. Then he came out in the third quarter and destroyed the New York Knicks. He scored 18 points and dished out 3 assists like this one to Carmelo Anthony to tie the game!
For the second straight game, Russ has pulled out his Oklahoma City Thunder MVP bag and given opponents the business. What is even more exciting about this spurt is that he knocked down three shots from behind the 3 point line.
He finished with a triple-double (Like again!) tallying 31 points (10-18 shooting!), 13 rebounds and 10 assists.
DeAndre Jordan played his best game in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform!
If this guy protected the paint like this three games a week, he would start at center and Anthony Davis would be happy again. He was amazing on the defensive end protecting the rim to block shots to start the Lakers’ fast break.
He finished with 6 points, 11 rebounds (4 offensive!) with a steal and a block.
The Los Angeles Lakers keep using the age-old…“We are going to push the pace and use our fast break” line. The only problem is that can’t happen while being 29th in the NBA in points given up.
The Los Angeles Lakers can’t keep playing like this!
Despite a great effort by this team to come back and make it close, the Los Angeles Lakers ran out gas in the end. The difference between Sunday and this game is that the Detroit Pistons are a bad team. However, the New York Knicks are an average team and falling down 25 points is tough to overcome against NBA teams.
This team is burning up a ton of energy with mediocre teams with these comebacks. There will be fans that will blow this statement off, but the Lakers did the same thing last year before AD got injured and LeBron soon after.
