2. Sacramento Kings
Marvin Bagley is due for a new contract after this season and with how things have gone with the Sacramento Kings, it is unlikely that he is going to get one. Bagley does not appear to want to be in Sacramento (cannot blame him) and you canont blame the Kings for not wanting to pay him just under $30 million a season on a new contract.
Bagley can flex his muscles and try and force his way to a new desination in the offseason. It would not be the worst thing in the world for Bagley to learn from LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Would Bagley be the best player to bring in? Not at all. And sure, the Lakers would have to sign him to a four-year deal but he still was the second overall pick just four years ago. The guy has potential, is really young and might just need a new home to realize the potential.
The Kings, being the not-well-run franchise that they are, absolutely might look at a swap of Bagley for Westbrook as a plus for the team. Sacramento gets a star in Westbrook that can help them make the playoffs for the first time in 16 years and would not have to pay Bagley.
The Kings can also get off of Ricaun Holmes’ contract and Mo Harkless’ contract. Both have been bad in Sacramento but could add value to the Lakers.
Bagley and Anthony Davis would be a really interesting front court and while it might be a bit wonky, it would be better than Westbrook and the team would at least have some potential to look forward to.
