The top-five triple-double leaders in Los Angeles Lakers history:
Jerry West, 16
The logo of the NBA recorded 16 triple-doubles with the Los Angeles Lakers before it was the cool thing to do. West has the worst NBA Finals record of all time and if he just had better fortune then he would rank much higher on the all-time lists than he currently does.
Kobe Bryant, 21
Despite Kobe Bryant being arguably the greatest Laker of all-time, he only recorded 21 triple-doubles. Everyone knows that Kobe’s bread and butter was scoring the basketball and while he did dish the ball out, he was not someone who was necessarily looking to get his teammates’ shots over his own.
Elgin Baylor, 24
Elgin Baylor is the most underrated player in NBA history. It does not help that he played in the 1960s but he was one of the most dominant players of that era and his name gets lost in the history books, even in Lakers’ history. Baylor is third in franchise history with 24 triple-doubles.
LeBron James, 29
Despite being a Laker for less than four full seasons, LeBron James has already etched his place in second in the all-time triple-double in franchise history. He is locked in this position as well as he is miles behind no. 1.
Magic Johnson (138)
Magic Johnson is the greatest player in franchise history if your answer is not Kobe Bryant. Even with his career being shortened, Magic was a triple-double machine and actually did so while playing winning basketball.
Magic is third on the all-time triple-double list behind Oscar Robertson and Russell Westbrook. LeBron probably won’t catch him on the all-time list as he is 34 triple-doubles shy in his career.
