Detroit Pistons: Cory Joseph

Cory Joseph is not the most exciting name to see on this list but that is all the Pistons really have when it comes to veteran trade chips and he is someone who the Lakers could absolutely afford to trade for.

Joseph has a player option for the 2022-23 season that would pay him $5.1 million and it is hard to see him getting more in free agency. If Joseph were to make the mistake of opting out then he could probably be a veteran minimum target for the Lakers.

Joseph, who is another point guard, would once again be someone who could play behind Westbrook or could even log some starting minutes if the team were to get rid of Westbrook. Like others on this list, he is not a ball-dominant point guard so he would fit nicely next to LeBron James.

Joseph is also having a career year from beyond the arc, making him more valuable to a team like the Lakers. The 30-year-old veteran is shooting 41.7% from three this season and is averaging eight points per game.

The Lakers could probably get Joseph if they traded Kendrick Nunn and a future second-round pick. Nunn makes the money work and the best-case scenario for Detroit is he comes back to play, plays well and the team can flip him for more assets at the deadline.
