Los Angeles Lakers blow their season to the New Orleans Pelicans
By Ronald Agers
The story from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:
This Lakers team actually got rolled by a rookie named Trey Murphy III…
In ESPN’s 30 for 30 voice: What if I told you the Los Angeles Lakers allowed a player who scored 23 points in his previous five games to score 21 points in one half?
Nuff said.
This is more hope than observation, but Russell Westbrook has figured out how to play off the ball!
This Los Angeles Lakers website has said it time and time again that the team needed Russ more than Russ needed the team. If you are a Lakers fans, you should be thrilled that a happy medium has been reached when it comes to Russ and his consistent role in the offense. Now that it is consistent, the man can adjust.
Since that Minnesota debacle…BOY! Has he adjusted! In the last four games leading into this one, he has been balling!
- In the Toronto game, he collects a triple-double with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists with a buzzer-beater to send the game into overtime. This could have saved the season for the Lakers.
- In the Washington game, Russ has a stat line of 22 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. He shot 66.7 percent for the game.
- In the Cleveland game, Russ collected 20 points, 11 assists and 5 rebounds.
- Against Philly, Westbrook dropped a team-high 24 points with 9 rebounds and 8 assists.
Sure, there are some turnovers mixed in with all of this but get over it. Russ has been turning the ball over his entire career. The Lakers signed up for this when they made the trade. That’s a byproduct of his aggressiveness which is slowly starting to return with his confidence.
This sequence here is why Russell Westbrook can help the Lakers next year…
Hang in there Russ…Lake Show Life sees you!
Well, those weak “The Los Angeles Lakers will get it together!” chants will come to an end.
The Los Angeles Lakers have the toughest schedule to finish the season in the NBA. Now the Lakers not only have to worry about getting worn out in the play-in tournament, just getting to the tournament is a challenge now!
The other two teams don’t matter because the Lakers can’t win two games in a row to even worry about other teams’ problems.
Here’s the schedule to finish the season.
- Dallas Mavericks on the road…
- Utah Jazz on the road…
- They run it back against the Pelicans at home. Didn’t the Pelicans destroy them at home on National TV?
- Phoenix Suns on the road…
- Golden State Warriors on the road…
- Oklahoma City Thunder at home…but didn’t the Lakers blow two huge leads to OKC like this game here?
- They finish the season on the road against the Denver Nuggets.
Well, the New Orleans Pelicans or the Memphis Grizzlies will enjoy a really good first-round pick from the Lakers this offseason. The staff of Lake Show Life are already checking out like the Lakers in the second half of this game.
