The story from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:
LeBron James’s fanbase is not going to like this one! The Los Angeles Lakers need to trade him in the offseason.
Klutch Sports and his media company will scare you into thinking that the Lakers cannot survive without LeBron James and his 30 points a game. Well, this game showed that it’s not true. See, the Lakers have a decision to make about a contract extension this summer. If they don’t extend him, he can walk and will be a distraction until he does. Plus he is slowing the pace down horribly on offense.
Against the Nuggets, the ball was moving, Russ and AD had some chemistry going and it looked like there was offensive plays being executed. It looked like players playing basketball instead of waiting on LeBron to make a decision.
Furthermore, there was questions about leadership on this site. No one believed Ronald Agers, but what about Kareem Abdul-Jabbar via ESPN?
"“Some of the things he’s done and said are really beneath him, as far as I can see,” Abdul-Jabbar said before the Lakers’ game against the Denver Nuggets. “Some of the great things that he’s done, he’s standing on both sides of the fence almost, you know? It makes it hard for me to accept that when he’s committed himself to a different take on everything. It’s hard to figure out where he’s standing. You’ve got to check him out every time.”"
If one the most iconic players (Not to mention most intelligent!) in NBA history can’t get a read on this guy, what do you think Rob Pelinka, Jeanie Buss, his teammates and his coaching staff is going through? Is it really worth paying $45 to 50 million a year to test this theory while he’s approaching 40 years of age?
If the Lakers were smart, they would move him get future assets (Good luck because it will be hard…who would want a aging superstar with all of that baggage?), beg Russ to stay after firing Frank Vogel and hand the keys to Anthony Davis.
This will do something that this franchise secretly wants anyway which is save money.
Does anyone believe Lake Show Life when we say the season is over?
The Lakers trailed 10th seed San Antonio Spurs by a game before this loss. But by virtue of the Spurs holding the tiebreaker, Los Angeles now needs San Antonio to lose out to get the final play-in spot. Only two problems.
- The Lakers can’t win a game with a schedule that includes another game against Denver, one against Phoenix, one against Golden State and one against Oklahoma City.
- The Spurs play Portland tonight and the Blazers can’t beat anyone in the NBA but the Lakers.
In short, the season is over next Sunday.
