1. Mark Jackson

Mark Jackson has been unable to land a coaching gig in the NBA since the Golden State Warriors fired him prior to the 2014-15 season. After Jackson was fired, the Warriors went on to have one of the most dominant half-decade runs in NBA history while Jackson interviewed for countless jobs and did not land one.

While some will credit Jackson for building the Warriors team that Steve Kerr simply took over, the reality of the situation is that he was not that great of a head coach during his time with Golden State and there are quite a few red flags in hiring him.

In fact, Alex Wolfe put together an excellent thread back in 2018 when Jackson was a finalist for the vacant New York Knicks job. Wolfe outlined all of the reasons (of which there were 16) why the Knicks should not hire Jackson. All of those reasons are applicable to the Lakers.

Jackson was tied to the Lakers as someone who LeBron James would reportedly support hiring. This is something we have covered on Lake Show Life before, but the entire reason why that report came out was to get Jackson’s name in the news and raise his stock as a coach to other teams as well.

Why? He is a Klutch Sports client. Do you think the Lakers were the ones leaking that LeBron would support Jackson? No, it was Klutch. And it worked as Jackson is now one of the finalists for the Sacramento Kings job.

Let Jackson go coach Sacramento. We’ll see how this run with a Northern California team goes.
