3 Klutch Sports clients the Los Angeles Lakers can trade for this summer
By Jason Reed
2. Jordan Clarkson
This is a trade idea that we have mentioned before here at Lake Show Life. There is a good chance that the Utah Jazz blow things up this offseason. The team fell short in the playoffs yet again and it is becoming clear that this core with Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert is not good enough to win a title.
The Jazz will first look to make any sort of star improvements but with Danny Ainge now in town, it seems more likey that the Jazz hit the reset button. After all, Utah is projected to be over the tax in a small market next season. Ownership is not going to want to pay that tax bill to go 46-36 and lose in the first round of the playoffs.
Jordan Clarkson is a Klutch client who could try and flex his muscles and force a trade to the Los Angeles Lakers. Like with the Bledsoe trade, this trade would have to centralize around Talen Horton-Tucker but the Lakers would have to send more as well.
Los Angeles would likely have to send a protected future first-round pick to Utah to get Clarkson for THT. That is a decent price to pay for a role player but Clarkson did just win Sixth Man of the Year and can be a really valuable player off the bench on a title-contending team.
Clarkson is also under contract for two more seasons, which does make it more valuable for the Los Angeles Lakers. This might not seem like the best trade but there are limited ways the team can improve and if this is it then they should go for it.
