4. D.J. Augustin

I personally do not love this option for the Los Angeles Lakers but it still could very well be an option. The Lakers made room on the roster to sign D.J. Augustin last season and while his overall advanced numbers are still concerning, he still had some bright moments.

You do not even need the advanced numbers to know that Augustin is a poor defensive player and is simply limited because of his size. On a team that struggled so much defensively last season, Augustin only adds to that problem.

But as mentioned, Augustin had some really solid games for the Lakers last season and Pelinka could definitely end up talking himself into bringing Augustin back on a one-year deal to provide depth at point guard, especially if the team is unable to move Westbrook.

The veteran guard shot 42.6% from beyond the arc while he was with the Lakers last season. As long as he is continuing to do that and the Lakers use him in situations where he defense won’t kill the team then there is value in retaining Augustin next season.

Next. Westbrook and the 10 worst trades in franchise history. dark

However, if Augustin is the guy that the Lakers are trying to bring in for depth at point guard then there is an issue.
