6. Dewayne Dedmon

Dewayne Dedmon is currently chasing his first championship as a member of the Miami Heat and once that championship quest is over (it might already be by the time you are reading this) he is going to hit the open market and will undoubtedly be a minimum contract candidate.

Dedmon has already made his money as a center and in today’s NBA unless you are an elite center teams are not going to pay you. Maybe a team would pay Dedmon a $4-5 million contract that is more than the minimum but with so many options of similar value on the market, it is hard to see Dedmon getting that kind of deal.

Earlier in this article we mentioned the Lakers potentially getting a better traditional center to play in front of Lopez and Dedmon would be a fine candidate. He is not the best center option on the market this offseason but he is certainly better than Lopez and would give the Lakers what they want at the five.

He would not space the floor at all but he would at least provide that traditional rebounding/shot-blocking presence that the Lakers have gotten out of the likes of Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee in recent years.

While someone like Hassan Whiteside might be more appealing, the Hawks connection with Ham could be a driving force for the team to instead sign Dedmon.
