The pros of trading for Kyrie Irving start with LeBron James:

Irving and LeBron James reunited again could be magical. The duo won a championship together in 2016 with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Fans already witnessed what LeBron and Irving could accomplish together and to have them reunite again would be box office.

Trading Russell Westbrook for Irving could take care of one of the Lakers’ problems. Westbrook was a disaster this season. Whenever he was on the floor he was a liability. Westbrook averaged 18.5 points a game, he shot 44.4 percent from the field and 29.8 percent from three. He averaged 3.8 turnovers a game and was 66.7 percent at the free-throw line.

His decline with the Lakers resulted in him being nicknamed “Westbrick” and some fans calling for him to be traded.

On the other hand, Irving averaged 27.4 points a game, he shot 46.9 percent from the field and he was 91.5 percent at the free-throw line. What makes these stats even more impressive is he only played in 29 games.

His presence on the court made the difference in getting the Nets past the Cavaliers in the Play-in Tournament. He scored 34 points and had 12 assists. And in the first round of the playoffs, Irving had two games where he scored over 20 points.

Irving can create shots for his teammates and spread the floor.  He provides a boost in scoring and he is a good leader on the floor. If we learned anything from watching the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals, that is, a point guard is still needed in today’s game. And Irving is one of the best in the league.
