Jeriah Horne

One of the oldest prospects in this year’s draft is six-year senior Jeriah Horne. His college career included stops at Nebraska and Colorado, but he spent most of it at Tulsa.

His last season as a Golden Hurricane is what put him into draft consideration because he had his best season shooting the ball. He averaged over 40 percent from 3-point range and over 16 points per game.

Horne is projected to be taken in the late second round and would likely be available in the range the Lakers would be trading into.

Los Angeles reportedly has been linked to the Atlanta Hawks and Detroit Pistons picks in the mid-second round and Horne would definitely be on the board at that point. The Lakers might take another higher-rated prospect at that point in the second round because Horne could be available as a free agent if he goes undrafted.

The Lakers obviously have a slight interest in Horne, because the LA Times Brad Turner tweeted he was one of the six players they worked out on May 9th.

Their interest in him is not surprising, considering they were 22nd in the league in 3-point shooting last season. With his experience, Horne could come in and contribute as a sharpshooting wing right away.

A major question mark with Horne would be on the defensive side of the ball where his lack of elite athleticism and quickness could limit him from switching on to quicker perimeter players. He has the size to defend on the wing at 6’7″ 220 pounds with an almost 6’9″ wingspan, and his high motor could help to make up for his weaknesses defensively.
