Skip Bayless is known in sports media for having the hottest of hot takes and having a disdain for Los Angeles Lakers superstar, LeBron James. Whatever team LeBron is on is going to catch the stray shots that are sent his way and the Lakers have been receiving those shots for four seasons now.
Being perhaps the most polarizing player on the Los Angeles Lakers, Russell Westbrook is also receiving stray shots from the ‘Undisputed‘ host. Bayless decided to take a shot at both LeBron James and Russell Westbrook after the Lakers took Michigan State guard Max Christie in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft.
LeBron at least got the respect of getting called by his name instead of a derogatory term but Westbrook was not as fortunate. Westbrook has commented on the Westbrick nickname before, and quite frankly, he deserves the respect to not get called something he does not want to get called.
The former MVP does not like how the nickname disparages his family’s name, which is absolutely legitimate. There is a line when it comes to heckling an athlete and if someone speaks out like Westbrook about something, we should respect that. Bayless obviously does not.
Westbrook was not shy in firing back at Bayless with a simple message: do not tweet anything that Bayless would not say to Westbrook’s face.
Russell Westbrook is right to respond to Skip Bayless’ silly Lakers tweet
There really was no reason for Bayless to loop in LeBron and Westbrook in his tweet about Christie. Yes, it is his job to comment on games and what is happening in the sports world. We are familiar with that here at Lake Show Life. We get it.
However, this is simply grasping for straws and grasping for engagement on Twitter. Bayless got that engagement but not from the person that he was hoping to get it from. More power to Westbrook for saying something and not simply taking it on the chin because he is an athlete. If Bayless can dish it out, he should be able to take it.
Will Skip Bayless ever actually say this to Russell Westbrook’s face? Of course not. Like Conor McGregor when he fought Khabib Nurmagomedov, Bayless would likely tell Westbrook that this is just business.
But it isn’t business to Russell Westbrook, it is real. Hopefully, Bayless will think twice about some of the tweets he sends out in the future.
