3. Patrick Beverley is named to the All-Defensive Second Team

Patrick Beverley has been named to three All-Defensive Teams in his career. Once he made the All-Defensive First Team and twice he made the All-Defensive Second Team, last receiving the honors during the 2019-20 season.

Despite there being other talented defensive guards in the league (like Caruso) who might have better advanced defensive analytics, the stars are aligning for Beverley to once again get the honor this season with the Lakers.

Beverley is still very talented on the defensive end of the basketball and his play alone is going to put him in the conversation. We know that voters for every award love narratives and Beverley is going to have a strong narrative next season.

First of all, Beverley is going to benefit in having Anthony Davis and potentially even Myles Turner on defense. That is going to create a defensive wall near the basket, kicking the ball outside and allowing Beverley to showcase his ability on the perimeter.

Second of all, if the Lakers pull off this Hield and Turner trade, they should be fairly good next season. Lakers haters will deny it but a Lakers team with Beverley, Hield, LeBron, Davis and Turner is a 50-win team, as long as everyone stays healthy.

Team success mixed with the success of playing next to Anthony Davis mixed with Los Angeles naturally being a big market that gets more attention will result in Beverley getting the nod on the All-Defensive Second Team.
