2. Anthony Davis is already missing games for the Lakers

Anthony Davis had good moments in the preseason where he looked like the same guy that helped lead the Lakers to the NBA Championship in 2020. However, Davis also missed time with injuries, which does not create any kind of faith with the team or the fanbase.

Yes, it is the preseason and the team should not expect the superstars to push the envelope. There is no point in pushing it for a meaningless game if someone cannot suit up because of a nagging injury.

However, that does not mean that we should completely ignore the fact that Davis missed multiple preseason games that he was supposed to start because of nagging injuries. If this was someone who was known for being durable then fine, it would be a non-story.

But this is someone who is one of the most injury-prone players in the league. Anthony Davis absolutely does not deserve the same benefit of the doubt that someone like Giannis Antetokounmpo gets.

It is clear that the team and the fans do not have much trust in Davis, and even worse, the team might not fully trust in Davis’s ability to carry the team as its franchise player. That is extremely concerning.
