3. Malik Monk

This one would be shocking, wouldn’t it? As shocking as it would be, there absolutely is a world in which the Sacramento Kings could potentially look to trade Malik Monk at the deadline. And as far as I am concerned, we are on that path right now.

The Kings signed Monk to a two-year contract this summer and he has not lived up to the billing. He has regressed back to how he was playing in Charlotte as he has seemingly lost his shooting stroke. Monk is also averaging under 20 minutes per game, so it is not like he has a huge role on his team.

If Monk is not what the Kings thought he would be then they might be persuaded to trade him away at the deadline. It is doubtful that they would be shopping Monk but if he is struggling and the Kings are going to be in the lottery anyway then they could look to get out of his contract.

Los Angeles could offer an expiring contract like Beverley or even do a package of Nunn and young guard Max Christie. It would take a future second-round pick or two to convince the Kings but it is not like Monk has much value.

The Kings would get out of the contract by getting an expiring deal and the Lakers could buy low on someone who is familiar in LA that they know can make shots next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
