2. Lakers scalp role players from the Hornets

This deal definitely doesn’t involve any players on the caliber of Myles Turner but provides good-quality role players and much-needed depth where the Lakers need it. Oubre, a lanky forward who can definitely score when asked to, and Plumlee, a big-bodied center with sneaky bounce, would be warmly welcomed by the team and fans alike.

Although not quite the shot-blocker, shooter, or overall player that Turner is, Plumlee has carved out a nice career for himself thanks to his natural athleticism and work ethic. When a hard worker like that off the bench can provide nine and nine as he does, he is more than welcome on this roster.

Plumlee would also provide the Lakers with the same perk of relieving AD of some of his center duties. A big-man group of AD, Thomas Bryant, Wenyen Gabriel, and Mason Plumlee might just be enough.

Oubre is a player that would quickly become a fan favorite. Playing with constant confidence bordering on overconfidence, (evident in doing the too-small celebration down 28 to Boston the other night) he can get hot in a hurry and get a crowd buzzing.

While not shooting great from three at 31%, he’s averaging 19.6 points this season and would be a great spark off the bench next to Russell Westbrook. Even though this wouldn’t be shabby, I have one more that’s sort of fun.
