Shooting guard: Alec Burks, Detroit Pistons

This is by far the best (realistic) trade target for the Los Angeles Lakers at the deadline. Los Angeles is a team that still could use some three-point shooting and Burks would bring that and more to the team next season.

Burks is shooting 43.6% from beyond the arc in 4.3 attempts per game. This is not a flash in the plan for Burks, either, as he is shooting a combined 41.3% from three over the last three seasons. The six-six two-guard would also provide a serviceable defensive presence on the perimeter. He is by no means a great defender but can certainly hold his own.

Not only would the Lakers get help for this season but for next season as well. Burks has a club option worth just over $10 million next season. If things go great then Burks can be brought back. If not, there is flexibility to move on.

Lakers trade rumors: Will the Pistons trade Alec Burks?

Detroit would be foolish to not trade Burks at the deadline this season. The Pistons are one of the teams that are tanking for Victor Wembanyama and trading Burks accomplishes two things. Detroit would get assets for the future and would be getting worse in the process.

The hope for Los Angeles is that the price is only a second-round pick. Money-wise, the deal could be done for Patrick Beverley and a second-round pick but Detroit may ask for more. Perhaps the Lakers could include another future second or a young asset like Max Christie.
