3. Lakers keep a second-round pick but trade Lonnie Walker IV

This trade is a very similar one to the first trade that included Beverley with some small differences. Instead of sending Beverley to Orlando, the team could package Lonnie Walker IV and Damian Jones to make the money work.

By doing so, the Lakers could likely cut the cost of second-round picks that are traded to Orlando as Walker is a younger player with potential. While he is a free agent after this season, he could have value to Orlando past this season and this would serve as a test run with him in this young core.

This would also allow the Lakers to utilize Beverley in another trade. While they would be sending away the 2023 second-round pick, Los Angeles could package Beverley and a future pick in another deal to have a larger overhaul.

Trading Walker may not seem very smart but as we have covered here on Lake Show Life, Los Angeles could certainly move him. His contract is great for a trade and the Lakers actually have a net rating that is 6.6 points worse when Walker is on the court.

Adding Jones to this deal would have the added benefit of getting out of the second year of his contract. Jones does not have a role in this rotation and getting that contract off the books would be big, even if it is small.
