The Los Angeles Lakers need to make a run to close the 2022-23 season to make the playoffs, and it starts with a matchup with the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night.

Los Angeles went into the All-Star break on a positive note, defeating the New Orleans Pelicans, 120-102.

LeBron James (foot, hand) could be up in the air for this game, but the Lakers will get the benefit of Stephen Curry (leg) and Andrew Wiggins (personal) sitting out for Golden State.

Golden State has been brutal on the road this season, going just 7-22 straight up, and it lost to these new-look Lakers (without James) at home earlier this month.

Does that give Los Angeles value as a home favorite:? Let’s jump into the odds and pick for this game:

Warriors vs. Lakers prediction and pick

I lean with the Lakers to win this game, but my best bet in this matchup is actually focused on the total.

These two teams play at the No. 1 (Golden State) and No. 2 (Los Angeles) fastest paces in the NBA this season, which means we’re going to get a ton of possessions on Thursday. Yes, the most recent meeting between these teams finished with just 212 total points, but I think that’s an anomaly for how the rest of the season has gone.

Golden State is the best OVER team in the NBA this season, and betting the OVER on Golden State’s games on the road has been extremely profitable (21-6-1) this season.

With LeBron likely back, the Lakers should be even more lethal on offense, and they’re also hitting the OVER in more than 50 percent of their games (31-28).

This is an extremely high total, but this Golden State trend is too much to overlook. Bet on plenty of points to be scored on Thursday night.
