The Los Angeles Lakers may have picked up their biggest win of the 2022-23 season against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night.

With Anthony Davis, LeBron James and D’Angelo Russell all out, the Lakers’ role players stepped up, led by Dennis Schroder (26 points) to beat OKC and move into the No. 11 spot in the Western Conference.

Los Angeles will get Davis (probable) back in the lineup on Friday night when it hosts the Minnesota Timberwolves, who still don’t have star big man Karl-Anthony Towns due to a calf injury.

Minnesota, the No. 8 seed, has just a 1.5-game cushion on the Lakers, and it has struggled on the road this season, going just 12-18 straight up.

Here’s a look at the latest odds for this game and a best bet to consider making:

With AD back in the lineup, I love the Lakers to win this game as small favorites against Minnesota.

Davis has been dominant when LeBron is out of the lineup this season, averaging 27.8 points, 16.2 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game across 10 games without the four-time champion.

That’s huge for the Lakers’ offense, which still thrived on Wednesday night without its three top scorers.

The difference since the trade deadline? Depth.

Los Angeles’ rotation has a ton more shooting with additions of Malik Beasley, Ru Hachimura nad Mo Bamba, and Bamba and Jarred Vanderbilt are great defensively on the inside.

Minnesota is at .500 on the season, but it has struggled on the road, even as a road dog, going 8-11 against the spread.

The Lakers should have the advantage at home with AD healthy, so I’ll back them to win this game outright on Friday.
