2. Vernon Carey Jr.

Vernon Carey Jr. is arguably the best center option that the Los Angeles Lakers could bring in for depth. You could even make the case that the team does not need to work out Carey and should just sign him that way they can get him in the building.

Someone who is available on the market at this point in the season and has not yet been scooped up by another team should not be overrated. While Carey is the best option of the bunch, he is not someone who is going to suddenly revolutionize the Lakers.

However, he is someone who simply has more potential than the others players on this list. While it is far from a guarantee, Carey could potentially be someone who is on the team past the 2022-23 season.

That is because of his age. Carey is only 22 years old and while his numbers in the NBA have been less than impressive, his numbers in the G League have shown that there is legitimate potential there.

In 32 career G League games, Carey is averaging 17.6 points, 8.5 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 25.8 minutes per game. He also is a big that can shoot the basketball as he showed development in that regard this season. In 14 G League games this season Carey shot 36.4% from three in 2.4 attempts per game.

There is something there and even if he does not play much, the Lakers could get him in the building now as a trial run for a potential future role in the rotation.
