5 potential D’Angelo Russell replacements for Lakers this offseason: Jevon Carter

It’s not necessarily a name most Los Angeles Lakers fans would see and jump out of their seats, but Jevon Carter is absolutely ready for a starting role in the right situation.

This would make the most sense if the Lakers are able to bring Austin Reaves back, but if they do, then Carter could be a solid option to replace D’Angelo Russell in the starting lineup.

Carter just wrapped up a career year in which he played in 81 games, starting 39 of them for the Milwaukee Bucks, who were the best team in the Eastern Conference throughout the regular season.

The 27-year-old guard notched career-highs in points (8.0), rebounds (2.5), assists (2.4), and three-point attempts (4.2). He also shot 41.2% from behind the three-point line on almost double the number of attempts he’s ever taken in a single season.

He’s also one of the league’s most tenacious perimeter defenders – something he’s been known for ever since his days at West Virginia. Despite being just 6-foot-1, Carter is a menace on the defensive end.

With his three-point shooting and defensive presence, Carter is ready to land a starting role, and he would be a perfect fit alongside Reaves, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis.

Potential starting lineup: Jevon Carter, Austin Reaves, LeBron James, Jarred Vanderbilt, Anthony Davis
