5 potential D’Angelo Russell replacements for Lakers this offseason: Malcolm Brogdon

Now we’re starting to get to some of the fun options. This move would have to happen via a trade with the Boston Celtics, which may sound sacrilegious to Los Angeles Lakers fans, but Malcolm Brogdon would be a great fit in LA.

Boston has already shaken up their roster this summer by trading Marcus Smart for Kristaps Porzingis, but Brogdon was almost in that trade. Do they still want to trade him?

The Lakers could cobble together a package of Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt, which would allow the Celtics to improve their depth at the wing and forward positions.

Meanwhile, the Lakers would add the perfect point guard to play alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Brogdon is an elite offensive weapon who would drastically improve the Lakers’ play on that side of the ball.

The Sixth Man of the Year is capable of creating for himself, getting to the rim, and making plays for others. Plus, he’s coming off a season where he finished as one of the best three-point shooters in the NBA.

Alongside Austin Reaves, Brogdon would form a great backcourt, and his shooting would give the Lakers a reliable threat from the outside on the offensive end.

Some fans may not want to make a deal with the Celtics, but this trade would be great for the Lakers, as Brogdon would be a perfect fit.

Potential starting lineup: Malcolm Brogdon, Austin Reaves, LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, Anthony Davis
