4. The Lakers could sign Svi Mykhailiuk to bring him back to LA
The Lakers obviously saw something in Svi Mykhailiuk at one point and the team may still feel a certain way about the former second-round pick. Mykhailiuk has bounced around the league over the last few years and really has not been able to find his footing as a role player.
That being said, Mykhailiuk did get an extended run with the Charlotte Hornets last season and played quite well. Mykhailiuk averaged 10.6 points, 2.7 assists and 2.4 rebounds while shooting 40.4% from three in 19 games with the Hornets. It was a small sample size, sure, but Mykhailiuk proved he can do something when given a true role in the rotation.
That is exactly what the Lakers saw in Mykhailiuk when he was drafted back in 2019. On the surface, Mykhailiuk looked like someone who could blossom into a legitimate three-and-D wing for the Lakers.
He may have taken some detours on the way but there is a chance for Mykhailiuk to be that for LA next season. Mykhailiuk would really have to earn his playoff minutes throughout the regular season but at the very least, he gives LA more regular-season depth.
Rob Pelinka has shown the willingness to bring in former Lakers in the pats and Mykhailiuk very well could be the next example of a homecoming.
