Danny Green

Danny Green was a very important member of the 2020 championship team, even if he had his struggles in the Orlando bubble and did not have as big of a role in that setting. In the regular season, though, Green was a huge reason why LA was successful.

Green was the perfect three-and-D wing to put next to LeBron James as he was still playing defense at a very high level at this stage of his career and he could knock down shots. Three years later (with injuries) there is some regression, but there is still value in signing him.

Danny Green could still help a contender like the Lakers

He may be past his prime and may have some injuries that have slowed him down but Green is still a serviceable NBA wing defender. In a league that is desperately looking for more wing defenders, you would think that Green would have already found his home.

And while his three-point shooting has been hit or miss, he is still someone who has proven that he can hit shots on the biggest stage and get hot. At this point in the offseason, Green is about as good as a team can get with a veteran flier.

If the Lakers didn’t already sign several wings and have a breakout shooting guard during the Summer League in D’Moi Hodge then it might even make sense to reunite with Green. Even if it is not the Lakers, another contender should absolutely be taking the chance. Green should be signed before Gabriel is.
