Would the Los Angeles Lakers accept this trade for Dillon Brooks?

There is no chance the Lakers trade for Dillon Brooks. Not after calling LeBron “old” following Game 1 of their playoff series and getting ejected for striking him in the groin in Game 2. Brooks did not shy away from his comments this summer, and there is no chance James wants him in LA.

The Lakers’ need for a perimeter defensive ace could arise. Jarred Vanderbilt is likely their best option, but fans saw his role decrease last postseason as every series went on. Rui Hachimura or Gabe Vincent likely draws the assignment next, and each has his limitations.

No matter how great the need, the Lakers would explore multiple avenues before trading for Dillon Brooks. They do not want him hijacking their offense and being a risk to stay on the floor in the playoffs.

Lakers grade: D

The Los Angeles Lakers are likely to trade D’Angelo Russell before the deadline, and this is a minuscule price to pay for a starter and elite defender, but Dillon Brooks makes it a no go. LeBron James does not want to play with him and that fact is enough. Chemistry issues are not something the franchise wants as they shoot for their 18th title.

Do not expect to witness Brooks wearing purple and gold, but crazier things have happened in the NBA.
