Lakers add Zach LaVine to the trade package

Chicago has two enticing stars that may want out by the time the trade deadline comes along. Zach LaVine is the bigger name and is someone who Lakers fans have circled. LaVine is a Klutch Sports client and as every Lakers fan knows, Rich Paul and Klutch definitely have influence over the moves the Lakers make.

This trade would be even bigger than the DeRozan deal and would require the Lakers to trade almost all of the assets that they have. This trade package was actually first thought up by Sam Quinn of CBS Sports, and it looks something like this:

D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Jalen Hood-Schifino and multiple first-round picks and pick swaps are a lot to trade, even if the Lakers have all but confirmed that Russell will be traded at some point this season.

If Rob Pelinka and the front office are going to make a trade like this then they have to be all-in on it working. While there is a high ceiling if you add LaVine and Caruso to the Lakers, this would probably be a bad risk for the Lakers to take.

LaVine is a classic good stats, bad team player. He has only made the playoffs once in his career and the Bulls actually had a better net rating when he was off the floor last season. He is a fun player. He is talented. But he is not a winning basketball player.

All that being said, a trade like this cannot be ruled out. The title window with LeBron in LA is shrinking and there could be internal pressure from the superstars to go get another star. If so, a trade like this could very well happen.
