Would the Lakers make this trade?

The Lakers should give it more time. They need to see what their roster can do when healthy. They haven’t had their full lineup in a game yet. Austin Reaves should play better, and Jarred Vanderbilt is a key piece of their defense. LA needs to be better on both ends if they are going to make a serious run.

The trade rumors started the moment the Lakers signed D’Angelo Russell this offseason, and he waived his no-trade clause. Los Angeles will explore his market before the deadline, and DeRozan is precisely the talented scorer and ball-handler the Lakers should be trying to acquire.

Gabe Vincent was a fellow offseason signing for LA. He has struggled to begin the year and is currently sidelined with a knee injury. The Lakers could turn two role players into a star and still have enough depth to be a serious contender

Grade: B

DeMar DeRozan is an elite scorer, but does not make the Lakers the team to beat. He has scored over 20 points per game for a decade straight, but his defensive issues have led to plenty of playoff disappointments. Could things change in Los Angeles? The Lakers would have the talent and star power to win it, which earns this trade a solid B grade.

Will Los Angeles make a massive splash before the trade deadline? Expect Rob Pelinka and the front office to explore the market, and do not be surprised to see them go all-in on winning it all.
