2. Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons will be an interesting team to watch this offseason. The trio of Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, and Jalen Duren have showcased intriguing upside, but the depth of the roster is disproportionate to the team's needs.

Paramount among those needs is the fact that the Pistons can't seem to shoot the three-ball with anything that even begins to resemble consistency.

Detroit finished the 2023-24 regular season ranked 29th in three-point field goals made and 26th in three-point field goal percentage. For a team that's hoping to build around a natural playmaker in Cunningham, failing to space the floor is unforgivable.

Russell is a known marksman, meanwhile, who can create for himself or shoot off the catch, thus making him the perfect offensive fit alongside Detroit's franchise player.

In terms of the structural fit, Cunningham standing at 6'6" and 220 pounds with a 7'0" wingspan gives him adequate size for the 3 spot. A backcourt of Ivey and Russell could raise some red flags defensively, but making the game easier for Cunningham on offense should be a priority.

Detroit should have the resources to sign Russell outright, but would also be a viable trade partner for the Los Angeles Lakers if the 28-year-old accepts his player option.
